Who is behind the attacks on forces in Balochistan?   By Jalal Noorzai   Inside Balochistan, there has been an increase in attacks on forces in the last one month. After October 8, 2001, when the Taliban regime in Afghanistan was overthrown, there were obvious incidents of insurgency, bombings, kidnappings for ransom and targeted killings in Balochistan. After the US occupation of Afghanistan and Indian hegemony, Balochistan became a haven for ethnic Baloch terrorist organizations.   Afghanistan safe haven for Pakistani terrorists  Afghanistan has also become a safe haven for these religious organizations since Operation Zarb-e-Azb, which began in June 2014 against the TTP and others in the former FATA. Governance incompetence–a national security challenge  GNReport   Balochistan's meagre resources are under spent.  Local media reports suggest that the Balochistan government has lapsed Rs 40 billion, returning to the federal government. The Balochistan government spokesman Liaquat Shahwani says that we have saved Rs 40 billion from development schemes and returned it to the federation. The question arises as to whether the government is responsible for Gwadar, Jivani and Klach where Residents are on the street for basic amenities like water, protesting daily by blocking roads.   Gawadar Port & Gawadar Free Zone to add  $10 billion worth economic activities: A sim Bajwa News Report  After becoming fully operational, the Gwadar Port and Gwadar Free Zone would generate economic activities of around $10 billion per annum, besides creating thousands of new jobs, China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa said on Monday. “Soon after completion of the Gwadar Free Zone, a lot of manufacturing and trading activities will start, cargoes will move, and transshipment activities will increase,” Asim Bawa said while talking to the media here after reviewing the Gwadar Port and other projects under CPEC.
